Louisiana has about 20,500 actively practicing lawyers, working across a wide range of disciplines and sectors. Both the government and civil society of the state are actively working to help those in need - and to that end, have set up a variety of resources for assistance. This includes a number of niche organizations, including the Advocacy Center (which offers legal assistance to people with disabilities above 60 years of age) and the Arts Council of New Orleans' Entertainment Law Legal Assistance Project (which offers pro-bono legal assistance to low-income earners in the entertainment industry), as well as other more general organizations.
